Job Title: Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Mining Equipment

Shifts Available:
- 3rd Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM | Additional Overtime as needed
- Pay Range: 3rd Shift: Up to $31.70/hour (based on experience)
- Employment Type: Full-Time | Long-Term Hire

The company services and maintains some of the most critical load transfer, processing, and extraction equipment used across automotive, construction, and materials industries.
This team takes pride in its commitment to safety, technical expertise, and continuous equipment uptime, keeping operations running efficiently across multiple sites in Michigan.
Position Summary: We are seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot heavy mining and industrial equipment — including haul trucks, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and drills. You’ll work both independently and in a team setting to ensure the reliability and peak performance of equipment supporting salt extraction and large-scale material handling operations.
This is a hands-on opportunity for mechanics who thrive in a rugged, fast-paced environment and enjoy working with advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, and bulldozers
- Inspect, dismantle, and reassemble equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand tools
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs on broken or worn structural parts
- Conduct preventive maintenance — check and fill fluid levels, service lubrication points, inspect hydraulic lines and pumps
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems efficiently
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
- Operate equipment for testing and post-repair verification
- Maintain daily work logs, service reports, and documentation accurately
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain housekeeping standards in work areas
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repairs, hazards, or process changes
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–4 years’ experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic (industrial or mining environment preferred)
- Must hold a Michigan Mechanic Certification (Diesel, Transmission, Hydraulic, or Electrical Systems)
- Experience with CAT SIS Program preferred
- Proficient in troubleshooting engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies
- Ability to diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and make repairs to OEM standards
- Familiar with cranes, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and air compressors
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and basic diagnostic software
- Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work in a physically demanding environment
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working extended shifts underground or outdoors year-round
