LabWare LIMS Systems Engineer
The LabWare LIMS Systems Engineer is responsible for the day to day operation, support, stability, and continuous improvement of the LabWare LIMS platform supporting Precision Animal Health laboratory operations in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This role serves as the technical subject matter expert for the LIMS environment, ensuring reliable order processing, system availability, and efficient laboratory workflows. The position plays a critical role in identifying and resolving operational issues, optimizing system performance, and translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions that support operational excellence, compliance, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support and System Stability
- Ensure stable day to day operation of the LabWare LIMS platform supporting laboratory and business processes.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve incidents affecting laboratory operations or order processing.
- Identify and remove operational impediments that may impact timely order execution and customer delivery.
- Support release management, change control, and system availability in line with business requirements.
Technical Expertise and System Optimization
- Act as the primary technical expert for LabWare LIMS process flows, business logic, configuration, and code.
- Investigate and resolve system issues related to performance, integration, and workflow execution.
- Design and implement technical enhancements to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Translate complex laboratory and operational requirements into robust technical solutions.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Quality, Laboratory Operations, Customer Experience, Data Governance, and Analytics teams.
- Ensure operational readiness through effective documentation, incident handling, and stakeholder communication.
- Support cross functional initiatives that improve end to end laboratory digital workflows.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement through workflow automation and system optimization.
- Support instrument, platform, and sequencing integrations within the LIMS environment.
- Apply best practices in secure coding, data integrity, observability, and technical governance.
- Contribute to long term platform development aligned with business strategy and regulatory expectations.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with LabWare LIMS administration, configuration, or development.
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and enterprise system support.
- Experience in troubleshooting system performance and production incidents.
- Knowledge of SQL, system integrations, and structured technical documentation.
Preferred
- Experience in regulated laboratory or life sciences environments.
- Familiarity with sequencing integrations and laboratory instrumentation connectivity.
- Understanding of compliance requirements related to laboratory systems and data governance.
