PLC Controls Estimator

The PLC Controls Estimator develops accurate cost estimates and proposals for industrial automation projects, focusing on PLC-based control systems for industries such as manufacturing, automotive, or material handling. Collaborates with engineering teams, clients, and vendors to assess project requirements, ensuring competitive and profitable bids.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and technical requirements to estimate costs for PLC programming, HMI development, and control system integration.

• Prepare detailed proposals, including labor, materials, and equipment costs, using tools like AutoCAD, RSLogix, or Excel.

• Coordinate with project managers and engineers to align estimates with project scope and timelines.

• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure cost-effective solutions.

• Present estimates to clients, addressing technical and budgetary needs to win contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• 2+ years of experience in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) or controls engineering.

• Proficiency in cost estimation tools (Excel, ERP software) and PLC software (RSLogix, TIA Portal).

• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

• Familiarity with industrial automation standards and safety protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).

• Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, conveyor systems, or commissioning.
