Job Position: Reference Librarian

Location: Flint, MI 48503

Pay Rate: $20.50/hr

Shift: Part-Time, Contract/Temporary

Anticipated Schedule: Tuesday – 5.25 hours, Thursday, 5.25 hours, Sunday 5.5 hours

Entech Staffing is seeking a Part-Time Reference Librarian for a position at a local educational institution in Flint, MI. This is a part-time, contract/temporary role. Candidate will work about 16 hours a week with some weekend hours required.

The part-time reference librarian provides reference/research assistance to students and staff both in person and virtually. May also assist with Introduction to the Library sessions, collection development, and special projects.

Job Duties/Key Responsibilities:

• Provides reference service to students, faculty, staff and others, utilizing print collections and a wide array of online information resources and databases. Instructs and assists patrons in searching electronic and print resources.

• Order books and materials for assigned subject areas.

• Serve as a liaison to assigned departments or divisions on campus to provide communication of library services/collections/resources and support to faculty in assigned areas.

• Provide library orientations and instruction on library resources in coordination with other librarians or alone.

• Work on special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution

• One year experience as an academic reference librarian.

• Knowledge of and facility with online library catalog systems, Internet reference resources, and other library resources.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in providing resources to students in distance learning environments.
