Job Summary The International Institute at the University of Michigan invites applications for the position of Lecturer I. The successful candidate will teach one course in the Winter of 2026, the graduate-level methods course CCS 502: Humanistic Studies of Historical and Contemporary China . This is not a tenure-track appointment. Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, the funding for this position will only be available in Academic Year 2025-2026. Required Qualifications* Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of Chinese Studies. Native or near-native proficiency in English is required; at least two years of experience teaching at the college/university level is preferred. Desired Qualifications* Preference will be given to candidates who have experience successfully teaching methods courses at the graduate level. Union Affiliation This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
