Compensation & Incentives:

  • Hourly Rate: $37.00+ (increases based on experience).
  • $20,000 Sign-On Bonus for a 2-year commitment.

Shift Times: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday–Thursday) | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Friday)
Hours/Day: 8
Weekend Requirements: No weekends
On Call Requirements: Discussed at interview

Work Setting: Primarily outpatient, with some acute care coverage.

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist I provides patient-focused care utilizing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures. This role delegates responsibility to Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides while ensuring quality care and patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient function using formal and informal testing to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
  • Develop goal-specific treatment regimens based on assessment data and patient tolerance.
  • Submit written treatment plans coordinated with physicians; update plans as patient status changes.
  • Devise treatment schedules, including frequency and duration, in coordination with patient/family/caregiver and clinical support staff.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding conditions, prognosis, and treatment rationale.
  • Provide supervision for Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, Home Health Aides, and students per regulatory standards.
  • Recommend adaptive/supportive equipment and assist with securing equipment for patients.
  • Document patient/family responses and changes in condition according to policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Complete daily documentation for billing procedures.
  • Deliver treatment interventions and demonstrate competence to restore or maintain optimal function.
  • Educate patients/families on home exercise programs using effective teaching methods.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate care.
  • Promote education and professional development among staff and students.
  • Participate in program development, team conferences, and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Serve as a case manager for assigned cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and affiliate information.
  • Demonstrate competency in technology and software as required for documentation and workflow.
  • Participate in required occupational safety training and comply with infection control and safety policies.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Exposure to stressful situations including trauma, grief, and death.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including latex or alternatives).
  • Mobility to perform essential functions, including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials; follow required testing and safety protocols.
  • Manual dexterity including handling, reaching, grasping, and fingering; ability to lift/carry 10–50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain regular attendance.

Certifications and Licensure:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Within 1 month of hire.
  • Physical Therapist License – Required.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or related field – Required.

Experience, Training, and Skills:

  • Successful completion of orientation specific to the organization and affiliate.
  • Completion of new hire competency requirements.
