Job Description

The role of a Quality Technician involves routine and repetitive tasks, yet it is diversified work that includes visual, manual, and instrument checks of molded and assembled plastic parts to ensure they meet customer standards for dimensions, appearance, and physical effort. This position requires the use of various measuring instruments, strong visual acuity, and physical test instruments to ensure conformance with standards. A general knowledge of Statistical Process Control and sampling techniques is beneficial, along with good color judgment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and verify dimensional, appearance, and effort qualities of various plastics, molded parts, and assembled parts, including color.
• Set up and use various test instruments to determine compliance with company quality standards.
• Read and review blueprints to determine compliance with customer and company standards.
• Label, reject, accept, or place holds on parts and materials based on acceptability.
• Bring unacceptable materials, parts, and assemblies to the attention of workers and supervision for corrective action.
• Visually examine materials, parts, and assemblies to verify compliance with customer and company standards of appearance.
• Manually check assembled parts to ensure proper functioning according to customer and company standards.
• Work as a team player on the floor and in problem-solving meetings.
• Perform duties as an Auditor.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in inspection processes and quality inspection.
• Experience using micrometers, gages, and other measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong visual inspection skills.
• Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control and sampling techniques.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Capability to walk and push a cart throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to repeatedly bend and lift during the shift.
• Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to use measuring devices and build verification parts.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portage, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.75 - $19.75/hr.
