Engine Development Technician (1st & 2nd Shift)
Job Type: Contract (8–12 Months, Potential for Extension)
Shifts Available:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced Engine Development Technicians to support advanced engine and powertrain development programs. This position is responsible for fabricating, assembling, setting up, and executing engine and powertrain testing while ensuring accurate calibration, equipment reliability, and adherence to quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge engine development technologies in a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate, assemble, and prepare engine and powertrain development test equipment and fixtures.
- Set up and conduct engine and powertrain development tests following engineering procedures and test plans.
- Perform engine calibration activities to support development and validation programs.
- Operate and maintain engine dynamometer and test cell equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory and test equipment.
- Support data collection, documentation, and reporting of test results.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures and laboratory safety standards.
- Work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to support ongoing development projects.
- Maintain organized work areas and ensure test equipment remains in proper working condition.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field.
- Mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience fabricating, setting up, and conducting advanced engine or powertrain development tests.
- Experience performing engine calibration activities on engine or powertrain systems.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures for laboratory or test equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following:
- ADAPT
- LabVIEW
- MORPHEE
- PUMA
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and succeed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engine testing experience.
- Engine dynamometer or test cell experience.
- Emissions testing experience.
- Combustion development experience.
- Fabrication and machining experience.
- Experience using Horiba emissions testing equipment.
- Experience supporting engine or powertrain research and development programs.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting engine development programs and is comfortable working in a laboratory or test cell environment. They possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with engine testing and calibration, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment while supporting advanced powertrain development projects.
