Lead Quality Inspector - Aerospace

Our client, a tooling supplier to the aerospace industry, is seeking a Lead Quality Inspector for their facility in Auburn Hills.

Location: Auburn Hills, MI

Pay: $25 - $35/hr. plus OT

Hours: M-F 7am – 4pm

The Lead Quality Inspector - Parts is responsible for ensuring aerospace parts and tooling meet all customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role works closely with manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, processing, program management and customers to drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and approve final buyoff inspections of parts and tooling, ensuring conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer contracts
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements to ensure manufacturability and compliance
• Support internal and external audits (AS9100, NADCAP, customer audits) and lead corrective actions
• Develop and maintain control plans, inspection plans, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects, escapes, and rework
• Maintain quality records, inspection data, and compliance documentation
• Ensure proper documentation and release of Certificates of Conformance (C of C)
• Support customer communication related to quality issues and corrective actions
• Serve as the primary interface with customers' quality personnel during source inspections, audits, and buyoffs

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of quality experience in aerospace or regulated manufacturing
• Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings, blueprint and CAD drawings, GD&T, and critical specifications
• Strong knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 (FAI), NADCAP

Preferred Qualifications

• Inspection, buyoff authority, and certification of aerospace parts, preferred
• Familiarity with CMM inspection and advanced measurement systems
• Experience with parts production and composites manufacturing
