Role Summary: Join Flowserve’s team of innovators driving the future of mechanical sealing technology. As a Product Development Engineer with a global leader in flow control solutions, you will play a pivotal role in developing the next generation of mechanical seals for pumps, mixers, and specialty rotating equipment. From concept to production, you’ll apply your mechanical engineering expertise to design, develop, and validate innovative sealing technologies that deliver superior reliability, safety, and performance in demanding applications. Collaborating closely with product management, supply chain, and operations teams, you will transform customer needs and market opportunities into robust, cost-effective solutions that strengthen our position as the trusted global standard in mechanical seal innovation. Responsibilities include: In your Product Engineering role, you’ll leverage your experience to design, develop, and launch advanced Pump, Mixer, and Specialty Equipment Mechanical Seals that strengthen Flowserve’s global product portfolio and deliver smarter, more reliable sealing solutions to solve our customers’ toughest flow control challenges. These efforts include:- Develop and manage project plans through gated product development phases, ensuring on-time and quality execution.
- Design and prototype innovative product concepts for validation with internal teams and customers.
- Plan and conduct design analyses, including digital testing and simulation, to evaluate product feasibility, performance, and reliability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to ensure successful product launch and continuous improvement.
- Document design decisions, testing results, and engineering standards to maintain clear and consistent technical communication.
- Actively contribute to team discussions and problem-solving sessions, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Communicate complex technical ideas effectively through written reports and verbal presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, materials, and industry best practices to drive innovation and product excellence.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree
- Industrial experience 5+ years within the rotating equipment industry or in a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to apply technology to creatively solve problems meeting business and stakeholder needs
- Ability to apply engineering design analysis tools including FEA, FMEA, and RCA’s
- Knowledge and understanding of 2D and 3D drafting and modeling with preference for SolidWorks experience
- Lean CIP or DtV training experience
- Deep understanding of mechanical seal design principles, tribology, materials science, and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling, finite element analysis (ANSYS/Fluent), and tolerance stack-up analysis for precision components.
- Knowledge of API 682 standards, pumping systems, and industry compliance requirements.
