Taproom Staff Member
Mothfire Brewing Company, based in Ann Arbor, MI is continuing to grow and expand since launching our new space in July, 2023. We're looking for a few more people to join our crew!
The Taproom Staff Member serves as an ambassador for the Mothfire brand for the general public. This person will work to facilitate smooth, unforgettable experiences with every guest, increase brand loyalty and awareness, and act as a go-to resource on company and specific beer, food, and merchandise knowledge. This person must have a welcoming, helpful attitude while providing service in a high volume setting. This person takes direction from the Taproom Manager, who takes direction from the Head of Operations.
You will be joining a small and mighty crew who are extremely passionate about crafting the greatest beer possible and delivering a refined customer experience that unites the community around art, music and beer. If that sounds like fun to you, then you’re in the right place.

This position is non-exempt, part or full time, with required nights and weekends. Taproom hours are as follows:
Monday-Thursday: 4p-10p; Friday/Saturday: 12p-10p; Sunday: 12p-8p
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first and primary line of communication for incoming visitors; Answer customer inquiries about beers, merchandise, food, events, process and all things Mothfire; Resolve customer conflicts and complaints effectively and efficiently; Facilitate a welcoming and excellent taproom experience for all.
- Pour beers, deliver beers, take beer orders, bus tables, clean tables, arrange furniture and provide support to the other Taproom Associates
- Make simplified hard seltzer cocktails
- Load dishes into the dishwasher and/or manually clean dishes as needed
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with all co-workers across all departments
- Continuously learn about all taproom offerings to answer customer questions on Mothfire beer, food, and merchandise; as well as answer questions and assist with Carrozza Pizza ordering/pick-up/clean-up and other responsibilities, as needed
- Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation (if needed)
- Attend company sponsored training and sensory opportunities and chances for growth and learning
- Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of taproom, patio, and bathroom areas
- Keep the taproom and corresponding areas stocked and well organized
- Tap new kegs, move empty kegs, and help organize the cold storage room as needed
- Uphold highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation at all times
- Operate Arryved POS, assist customers with self-ordering and handle cash routinely

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask responsibilities routinely
- Take direction from Shift Leads, Associate Taproom Manager and/or the Taproom Manager and adhere to rules and processes established by the business
- Provide Taproom Manager with personal, as well as customer, feedback on the taproom operations and offerings to continuously improve and refine the customer experience
- Work with owners, management, and co-workers to ensure the core values, policies, and goals of the company are being put into practice
- Perform other duties as assigned and take initiative where appropriate

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years in restaurant/brewery/bar/food service industry required
- Must have passion for craft beer, especially Michigan craft beer
- Must be of legal age to work with and serve alcohol
- Alcohol Responsibility: Full understanding that they are a representative of not only Mothfire, but of the alcohol beverage industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts; evenings and weekends are expected
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. This position will require long periods of standing on hard surfaces. There is also likely to be moderate lifting of supplies and materials up to 50 pounds and lifting kegs of beer up to 165lbs with assistance. Routine exposure to moderate to loud noise. The use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects is required. Finger dexterity is required for point of sale use. May inadvertently bump into team members in a relatively small work area. Will stand and walk for extended periods of time. Frequent hand washing and sanitation is required.
