Job Title: Fitter/TIG Welder
Job Description

We are seeking an experienced fitter/fabricator with expertise in MIG and TIG welding. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to interpret blueprints for fitting complex parts, particularly large structural components up to 30 feet in length. This role requires comfort with moving around and working in tight spaces, as well as proficiency in welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and steel.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from blueprints to fit and fabricate complex parts.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding, including setting up the machine.
• Fit structural weldments such as beams, tubes, and plates.
• Work with overhead cranes, HI Lo's, grinders, hand grinders, and straightening press.
• Engage in prototype work, particularly in aerospace or defense industries.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in fitting structural weldments.
• 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding.
• Ability to pass a MIG and TIG weld test for structural welders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with overhead cranes, HI Lo's.
• Experience with grinders, hand grinders, and straightening press.
• Experience in a prototype, aerospace, or defense industry.
• AWS certifications (D1.1, D1.2, D1.6).
• Ability to lift and be comfortable lifting 50 lbs.

Work Environment

This position operates on the 1st shift from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 6 am to 2:30 pm on Fridays. Saturday work is dependent on workload (6 am to 11 am), though currently, Saturdays are not required. The environment is clean, climate-controlled, and safety-focused.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesterfield, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
