Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess post-anesthesia patients for vital signs and response to anesthesia.
- Provide immediate post-operative care and ensure patient comfort.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Conduct thorough assessments and document patients' progress in health records.
- Collaborate with surgical teams and assist in facilitating seamless patient transitions.
- Educate patients and families about post-operative care and potential complications.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations and provide critical interventions as needed.
- Maintain a sterile and safe environment in the PACU.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs to enhance nursing skills.
- Adhere to all healthcare regulations and protocols to ensure patient safety.
Requirements:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Michigan.
- Previous experience in a PACU, ICU, or similar clinical setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of post-anesthesia recovery principles and practices.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHR).
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate patient care skills.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capacity to lift and position patients safely and effectively.
