Job Description
Job Description
Do you love the water and being outside? Do you enjoy your current position but wish it was YEAR-ROUND? Are you dependable, enjoy solving problems, and take pride in providing outstanding service to customers?
If you answered yes to the questions above, we need you as our Service Lead Applicator!
We are looking for someone who loves working outdoors and enjoys building relationships with customers. As a Service Lead Applicator, you'll spend your days helping customers improve the health and appearance of their ponds and lakes. You'll apply aquatic treatments, install and service fountains and aeration systems, and work independently to provide exceptional service. Every day brings a new location, different challenges, and the opportunity to make a visible difference for our customers.
The Pond Guy / Airmax, Inc. is the leading manufacturer and distributor of pond, lake, and water garden products—including aeration systems, fountains, and water treatments—to a nationwide network of end-users and Airmax dealers.
Watch now to learn about The Pond Guy:
What You Can Expect
- Full-time, year-round employment
- Monday-Friday schedule with seasonal overtime opportunities
- Independence in the field while serving customers
- Variety every day working on ponds, lakes, fountains, and aeration systems
- Paid training and certifications
Our Service Lead Applicator is critical to providing our customers with quality service. The family dynamic at The Pond Guy extends to our customers as we strive to provide the best experiences possible. You’ll get detailed, on-the-job training to master processes regarding our products and customer service procedures.
Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include:
- Manage nuisance algae and aquatic weeds onsite at customers’ ponds
- Converse with customers onsite about their concerns, questions, and how they can proactively improve their pond’s quality
- Apply aquatic herbicides and algaecides, assuring compliance with state and federal standards as well as EPA regulations
- Install and maintain various aeration and fountain systems
- Accurately maintain daily service logs electronically
- Electronically complete service notes, including treatment approaches conducted, work orders/inventory used, and communicate repair trends to management
- Work with equipment such as boats, four-wheelers, motors, winches, emergent cutters, etc.
- Represent The Pond Guy professionally while delivering exceptional customer service in the field
Don’t know about ponds? That’s ok! We provide all the training you need to excel. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone fully understands The Pond Guy’s proactive approach to pond management. Don’t worry, all training is paid.
Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
- Experience in chemical application and/or pesticides is preferred but is not required; we offer training and any certifications that are required
- Knowledge of pond care and fish production is a bonus but not required
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or horticulture is a plus but not required
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, outgoing, and pleasant, with a focus on safety and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Will require the ability to receive a Chauffer’s license and DOT card
- Ability to operate a boat and drive a truck and trailer will be required after training
Because this position involves a variety of tasks, the physical requirements for both in-office and in-the-field environments are necessary. The service lead applicator role requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk, and looking at a computer screen for long periods. This position also requires the ability to swim, perform repetitive motions for extended periods; demonstrate manual dexterity when working with small components; frequently bend, stoop, and stand for long durations; lift, lower, and carry packages typically weighing 25–50 lbs; and handle packages up to 150 lbs with assistance. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, etc., for portions of the position that must be completed in these circumstances.
We need a Service Lead Applicator with a positive attitude, for whom the words “can’t” and “impossible” are not part of your vocabulary. You'll learn quickly, retain a lot of information, and offer exceptional customer service while continually adding value to the organization beyond day-to-day tasks.

While this is a year-round position, from April through September, you must be available to work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
