Job Summary
W e are seeking a skilled GMS Applications Engineer which will be responsible for designing, testing, supporting, and maintaining complex Energy and Market Management applications and system interfaces. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert, providing production support, leading complex troubleshooting efforts, and contributing to system reliability, disaster recovery, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Description
- Design, test, and support Energy and Market Management System (EMMS) applications, interfaces, and web and client/server solutions.
- Verify and support EMMS applications during system site failovers, disaster recovery drills, and business continuity events.
- Validate EMMS applications during server, system, and database upgrades, patching, and infrastructure changes.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair EMMS and Operational Technology Systems (OTS) applications and interfaces; escalate complex issues as needed.
- Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EMMS and OTS applications.
- Work on the most complex application issues requiring in-depth analysis of variable technical factors.
- Collaborate with database administrators and infrastructure teams to resolve application issues related to server, network, storage, or database components.
- Test non-functional requirements of EMMS application changes and coordinate testing activities with infrastructure and database teams.
- Participate in and support disaster recovery drills and business continuity procedures.
- Assist in developing and improving tools, processes, and procedures to enhance system reliability and organizational efficiency.
- Participate in multifunctional teams to perform studies, evaluate system changes, and provide application support.
- Represent the EMMS Production Support team in interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings.
- Act as a consultant and technical advisor on projects and initiatives impacting EMMS and OTS environments.
- Work independently on assignments and projects, making independent decisions except in unusually complex scenarios.
- Foster strong working relationships with internal departments and cross-functional teams.
- Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced engineers or analysts.
- Maintain awareness of emerging industry trends, tools, and best practices.
Job Skills Required
- Minim um of 5 years of related professional experience beyond degree requirements.
- Expert user of power system software applications and tools.
- Strong proficiency with spreadsheet and database programs.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and resolve high-impact issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required): Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree (Preferred): Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
