Step into precision: a day in this role

Start your shift by reviewing work orders and blueprints, selecting the right tooling for metals or plastics, and setting up a UNISIG CNC gundrill for first-article runs. You dial in offsets, verify programs generated via CAM, and refine G-code as needed. Throughout production, you validate every feature using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and a coordinate measuring machine (CMM). You keep a close eye on quality, maintain uptime by troubleshooting issues (including on CNC lathes and mills with Fanuc controls), and document improvements that eliminate waste. When needed, you lend a hand to assembly using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment—all while keeping your area clean, organized, and safe.

• Set up and operate CNC gundrill equipment to exacting specifications with strict safety practices.
• Program, edit, and optimize CNC toolpaths using CAM to streamline cycle times and improve finish/accuracy.
• Interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure every dimension and tolerance is achieved.
• Measure features with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs; adjust processes to stay in spec.
• Maintain and troubleshoot CNC equipment, plus support related CNC lathe and milling work using Fanuc controls.
• Select tooling and build setups suitable for plastics or metals to meet part requirements.
• Perform in-process and final inspections to uphold quality standards.
• Apply lean principles—identify process improvements and reduce waste across operations.
• Assist assembly when needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools.
• Sustain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

• Hands-on experience running CNC gundrill machines (UNISIG experience strongly preferred).
• Fluency in CNC programming (G-code) and CAM fundamentals.
• Expertise in blueprint reading with GD&T for precision manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies.
• Exposure to EDM is a plus.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks or CAD to review and understand part designs.
• Solid math skills for tolerance stack-ups and measurement calculations.
• Understanding of manufacturing environments; plastics injection molding exposure is advantageous.
• Proficient with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMMs.
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing for efficiency gains.
• Forklift certification preferred for safe material handling.
• Collaborative mindset; comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to support team goals.
