1st Shift Mechanical Assembler

Precision Assembly | High-Mix Manufacturing | Hands-On + Organized

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Mechanical Assembler to join our 1st shift manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical assembly , takes pride in building quality products, and can stay organized while working in a fast-moving, high-mix production environment .

This is more than basic assembly—you’ll be working from prints and CAD models , using a wide variety of hand tools, tracking materials, supporting inventory workflow, and ensuring finished assemblies meet quality and customer expectations.

What You’ll Own

• Assemble mechanical parts and products to specification within a defined area of a production line

• Read and build from:

  • prints

  • CAD models

  • blueprints and diagrams

  • engineering drawings/specifications

  • bills of material (BOMs)

  • written and verbal instructions

• Use a wide variety of hand tools and shop equipment to complete assemblies accurately

• Perform mechanical assembly tasks including:

  • tightening bolts using Allen wrenches/drivers

  • pressing bearings and bushings

  • using torque wrenches as required

  • applying Loctite to fasteners

• Identify product defects prior to assembly and escalate concerns appropriately

• Perform rework/repairs based on engineering changes or updates

• Maintain quality standards and complete work in accordance with safety procedures

• Keep work area clean, safe, and organized at all times

• Safely operate overhead crane controls (experience required / preferred depending on shop expectations)

Inventory & Workflow Responsibilities (Daily Tasks)

This role supports both assembly and parts movement through production. Responsibilities include:

• Checking in incoming products and materials

• Tagging parts going to outsource

• Pulling inventory stock for upcoming builds

• Updating inventory levels as parts are pulled

• Checking in returned outsourced parts

• Assembling jobs based on due dates and priorities

• Preparing finished parts/assemblies for shipment

• Ordering fasteners/products as needed

• Updating Excel-based project trackers as jobs move through the system

What We’re Looking For

• 2–3 years of mechanical assembly experience (preferred)

• Strong ability to interpret and build from prints, CAD models, and BOMs

• Working knowledge and confidence using a wide variety of hand tools

• Strong attention to detail and quality-first mindset

• Ability to identify defects and prevent issues prior to assembly

• Organized, dependable, and able to keep workflow moving

• Ability to multitask and switch priorities quickly in a changing environment

• Ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision

• Comfortable with repetitive assembly work and production pacing

• Ability to lift 30 lbs without assistance

• Must have excellent punctuality and attendance

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic computer navigation

• Experience with inventory management is a plus

• SolidWorks experience is a plus

• Experience running pneumatic and electrical lines is a plus
