Job Title: General Production Associate
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume, 24/7 plastic extrusion manufacturing operation by assisting in multiple production departments, including Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, Extruder, and Accessories. You will work on rotating or fixed shifts, help keep production lines running smoothly, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards while performing physically demanding tasks throughout your shift.
Responsibilities
- Assist production on the Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, and Extruder lines as assigned.
- Support core extraction on multiple areas of each production line, ensuring safe and efficient handling.
- Monitor the extrusion process and promptly identify and report quality issues or abnormalities.
- Wrap rolls of finished product and prepare materials for packaging or further processing.
- Mix chemicals according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Use lift-assist equipment and other tools to handle materials safely and efficiently.
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently during the shift, including tasks that involve bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
- Pull and push air bars into cores and ensure proper placement and secure handling.
- Stand for long periods of time while working on or near production lines.
- Walk up stairs and work on catwalks in certain roles, maintaining comfort and safety at elevated heights.
- Perform basic inspection and quality checks on products and materials.
- Assist with general production, assembly, and packaging tasks as needed across departments.
- Operate production and manufacturing machines safely after training and follow standard operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to production, quality, and process checks when required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to report progress, issues, and action items.
- Follow all safety, PPE, and housekeeping requirements to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to perform assigned tasks, including overtime when required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous manufacturing experience in a production environment.
- Previous machine operation experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work assigned schedule, including nights and rotating shifts, and consistently arrive on time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking for long periods.
- Comfort working in a large industrial facility with stairs, catwalks, and heights where required.
- Strong attention to safety and ability to follow PPE and safety protocols.
- Good attitude and willingness to learn and perform all aspects of the job, as assessed during a plant tour.
- Basic problem-solving skills and analytical ability to identify issues in the production process.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members and report progress, data, or action items.
- Ability to perform basic inspection and quality checks on products.
- Reliability and consistency in following work instructions and procedures.
- Two years of recent manufacturing experience with the same company is preferred.
- Experience in general production, machine operation, assembly, and packaging.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in high-volume production environments.
- Experience with inspection tasks and documenting quality results.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Comfort working with chemicals and following mixing procedures after appropriate training.
- Ability to use lift-assist devices and other material handling equipment safely.
- Willingness to work in different departments and on different lines as business needs change.

Work Environment
This role is based in a very large plastic extrusion manufacturing facility that operates 24/7 with multiple departments and varied shift schedules. Positions are available on different shifts, including a rotating 2-3-2 schedule on 12-hour shifts (such as 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and fixed third-shift roles (for example, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), with initial training typically conducted on day shift using 8-hour or first-shift schedules. The facility features laminator, knitting, roll converter, extruder, and accessories lines, with some roles requiring work on stairs and catwalks at elevated heights. The work is physically demanding, involving frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, twisting, standing for long periods, and pushing or pulling equipment such as air bars into cores. Employees must wear full personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toe or composite safety shoes, and some departments require additional respiratory protection. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with continuous production, machinery in operation, and a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saginaw, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.50/hr.
