PCU RN Job Details – Dayton, Ohio

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Inpatient Trauma Unit (ME4 IP Trauma Unit)
• Assignment Length: 20 weeks (option for 13 weeks available)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours/week)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1950-$2000
• Patient Ratios: Target 1:4, may be up to 1:5-6
• Unit Size: 36 beds, daily census ~32
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Required every other weekend/holiday
• Floating: Required to float between main, south, and north campuses (all within 15 miles)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; compact nursing licenses accepted)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent PCU or trauma nursing experience (Level I or II trauma preferred)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (IV Start preferred)
• Experience with EPIC charting system
• Must pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Experience with stable chronic ventilators
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Ability to physically assist patients with turning, moving, and ambulation
• Must be fitted for N95 mask prior to working on HRRU unit (unless PAPR is needed/offered)

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients with multi-system conditions
• Manage patients with tracheostomies, ventilators, quadriplegia, brain injuries, and orthopedic injuries
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, chest tube placement, and laceration repairs
• Administer pain medications and monitor patient responses
• Operate advanced clinical equipment (Trach/vents, wound vacs, orthopedic splints, DME)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, rapid response, etc.)
• Float between units and campuses as assigned, supporting nursing care teams
• Maintain infection prevention and isolation protocols, including PPE usage
• Complete required orientation and competency modules
