Onsite: The successful candidate will be expected to report to our engine assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, five times per week, at a minimum.

The Role:

Flint Engine Operations is seeking a results-driven and hands-on Machining Shift Leader to oversee daily operations on the machining floor. This role is critical in ensuring production continuity, safety compliance, and quality performance across shifts. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong problem-solving skills, capable of coordinating cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:

Your focus is to lead shift operations by resolving issues, supporting startup, and driving continuous improvement in safety, people, quality, responsiveness, and cost. You will be responsible for coordinating manpower, managing escalation protocols, meeting production targets, driving GMS, and coaching your team members.

Shift Management & Startup - Conduct shift-to-shift reviews with teams to communicate carryover issues and prioritize support.

Manpower & Planning – lead planning activities for weekend manpower and address absenteeism in department.

Operations & Escalation - Monitor CSS Machining floor and coach situational awareness with team. Enforce escalation protocols for safety, quality, and responsiveness.

Champion of Quality - lead DOER/Quality/Scrap processes to drive improvement in scrap and FTQ.

Leadership Development & GMS - Coach and develop GLs/TLs in GMS, leadership, and operational awareness.

TIP – Lead TIP initiatives through planning and reviews with cross functional teams

Champion of department SPQRCE metrics- Drive accountability through people and processes which may require difficult conversations.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

3+ years of direct supervisory experience in manufacturing production

Experience managing, leading people, and addressing performance concerns

Strong interpersonal skills, experience managing conflict, and decision making

Proficiency in problem-solving and root cause analysis

Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams under pressure

Must be willing to work weekends and off shifts
