Salary Range: $54,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to plan tool fabrication.
• Operate a variety of precision machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
• Fabricate, assemble, and test new tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to exact specifications.
• Perform precision machining, grinding, and fitting of components to maintain tight tolerances.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing production tooling to ensure operational efficiency.
• Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify tool accuracy and functionality.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance and longevity.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tool Maker, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Proficiency in operating a range of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Ability to accurately read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Expertise in using precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs) to ensure tight tolerances.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail in tool fabrication and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Experience in CNC programming and operation.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator).
• Welding experience for tool repair and modification.
