Your role as a Automotive Technician ApprenticeAs an Automotive Technician Apprentice at Community Automotive Repair, your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting experienced technicians with vehicle diagnostics and repairs. Expect to engage in hands-on learning, performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. You'll also have the opportunity to observe and assist in more complex repairs, gaining valuable insights into various automotive systems.
Your typical workweek will run Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, providing you with a consistent schedule. Be prepared to troubleshoot issues, keep workspaces organized, and maintain safety standards in the shop. You'll be encouraged to ask questions and seek guidance as you develop your skills in a practical environment.
Are you a good fit for this Automotive Technician Apprentice job?To excel as an Automotive Technician Apprentice at Community Automotive Repair, you'll need a combination of technical skills and physical capabilities. A valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record is essential for insurability purposes. You should be able to lift up to 70 lbs. independently and safely participate in buddy lifting for heavier tasks. A foundational understanding of automotive systems will help you effectively diagnose and repair vehicles.
Familiarity with basic repairs, including oil changes, tire installations, and general maintenance, is crucial. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn will set you apart. As you grow in your role, you'll develop the ability to tackle more complex repairs based on your certification and experience. Being detail-oriented and committed to quality work will greatly contribute to your success in this position.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Valid Michigan Driver's License
- Clean record for insurability purposes
- Able to lift 70 lbs. and buddy lift beyond that
- Able to effectively diagnose and repair vehicles based on certification and experience
- Work on basic repairs oil changes
- Mount & Balance and repair tires
- Basic car repairs & services
