responsibilities:

• Tissue Preparation: Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation, including ensuring proper tissue processing.
• Microtomy & Embedding: Under general supervision, perform precise embedding and microtomy for select specimen types as defined by lab leadership.
• Staining & Finishing: Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining and perform coverslipping (manual or automated).
• Special Procedures: Execute special stains as approved or directed by the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
• Quality & Compliance: Adhere strictly to the laboratory's quality control policies, documenting all activities to ensure full compliance with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
• Laboratory Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of non-complex equipment; manage the filing of finished blocks and slides to maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Administrative: Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting to ensure seamless data flow.

qualifications:
Required Qualifications

• Education/Experience: * An A.A. or A.S. degree with at least 1 year of experience within the last 10 years; OR * High School diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years of full-time acceptable experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years.
• Certification: HT (ASCP) certification, ASCP eligibility, OR 5 years of full-time experience in the last 10 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a high-volume diagnostic or reference laboratory.
• Strong knowledge of CAP/CLIA regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night-shift operations.
• Technical Proficiency: Proven skill in microtomy and embedding within a fast-paced production environment.
• Availability: Ability to work the permanent night shift (Monday-Friday, 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM).
