We are seeking a Pre-Service Order Entry Specialist to join our healthcare team in East Lansing, MI! In this essential role, you will accurately transcribe incoming diagnostic imaging and ancillary orders, verify insurance eligibility, and ensure all necessary medical necessity requirements are met for scheduling.

Working on a stable Monday through Friday daytime schedule, you will play a critical behind-the-scenes role in ensuring patient procedures are accurately logged and authorized. If you possess strong typing skills, excel at medical terminology, and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment, this contract role is an excellent platform to apply your expertise.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Transcribe diagnostic imaging and ancillary orders received via fax, verify insurance eligibility, validate insurance authorizations, and enter appropriate ICD-10 codes to facilitate accurate patient scheduling and billing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transcribe incoming physician fax orders for ancillary exams (imaging, cardiology, MRI, PET scans, etc.).

• Enter accurate ICD-10 codes for scheduling and billing purposes.

• Perform medical necessity checks upon order entry.

• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required coverage authorizations.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• 1+ years of medical clerical/secretary experience, OR 1+ years as a Medical Assistant with order entry and insurance authorization experience.

• 1+ years of data entry or customer service experience.

• Passing score (80%+) on a Medical Terminology assessment test.

• Passing score on a typing test (35+ WPM) or data entry test (7,000+ KPH).
