Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of tools and equipment.
• Manage inventory of tools, dies, fixtures, and spare parts, implementing robust tracking and replenishment systems.
• Supervise and train tool room personnel, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a safe work environment.
• Maintain and repair tools, dies, and equipment, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures and quality standards within the tool room.
• Collaborate with production and engineering departments to understand tooling needs and ensure availability of required items.
• Manage the procurement of new tools and equipment, researching options and obtaining quotes.
• Maintain accurate records of tool usage, maintenance, and repair history.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in tool room operations and management.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and equipment maintenance.
• Excellent leadership and team supervision skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management and control systems.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures and standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
• - Certification in a relevant trade or technical field (e.g., Machining, Tool & Die).
• - Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for inventory and order management.
• - Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior toolmakers.
• - Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling and execution.
