TITLE: Turf Care Specialist

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position is responsible for applying fertilizers and other treatments to lawns and landscapes to ensure healthy plant growth and maintain a desirable appearance. Consists of multi-tasking to complete the assigned jobs under budget and to the company’s safety and quality standards. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling & sitting. Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Fertilizer Application: Applying fertilizers, soil conditioners, and other amendments to lawns and gardens based on specific needs and plant requirements. 

• Equipment Operation: Safely operating various fertilizer application equipment such as spreaders, sprayers, and other machinery. 

• Chemical Handling and Mixing: Safely handling and mixing chemicals according to prescribed guidelines. 

• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of applications. 

• Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service and addressing client inquiries. 

• Lawn and Landscape Assessment: Inspecting and evaluating soil and plant conditions to determine appropriate treatment methods, including maintaining turf, ornamental trees, and shrubs

• Safety Compliance: Adhering to all safety protocols and environmental regulations during application processes. 

• Other Landscape Tasks: Assisting with other landscaping tasks as needed. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Michigan Applicator’s License as required, which includes Common Core, 3A, 3B, 6

• General knowledge of commercial fertilization equipment

• Must have good written and oral communication skills.

• A valid Michigan driver’s license with chauffer’s license endorsement.
