Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with a passion for marine design and product innovation. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, sales, and production teams to design and develop custom aluminum and stainless-steel fabricated products for the marine industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on fabrication and product development experience, strong 3D CAD skills, and a solid understanding of marine engineering and boat-building practices.
Key Responsibilities Design & EngineeringDesign and develop custom marine fabrication products such as outboard brackets, swim platforms, hard tops, T-tops, tubular arches, radar masts, antenna mounts, ladders, rod holders, tuna towers, and related components.
Create detailed manufacturing and shop drawings for production.
Lead new product development while improving existing product designs.
Develop practical, manufacturable solutions from concept through production.
Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure designs are efficient, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
Utilize knowledge of fabrication processes including CNC tube bending, plasma cutting, machining, MIG/TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication, and finishing.
Support both custom fabrication projects and repeat production.
Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while meeting quality and delivery timelines.
Oversee product development from concept through prototype and production.
Ensure products meet quality standards throughout manufacturing.
Improve product designs to enhance performance while simplifying manufacturing processes.
Maintain engineering drawings, technical documentation, specifications, and revision history.
Organize project files and engineering records for future reference.
Participate in product testing, field evaluations, and troubleshooting as required.
Travel occasionally to support product validation and customer requirements.
Create, maintain, and update accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Manage BOM revisions and ensure manufacturing uses current documentation.
Coordinate with procurement on material sourcing and availability.
Support product costing and manufacturing planning through accurate BOM management.
Integrate BOM data into ERP/PLM systems where applicable.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 3+ years of project engineering or mechanical design experience.
Experience within the marine or boating industry is required.
Proficiency with SolidWorks (including Sheet Metal and Weldments).
Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D .
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes including sheet metal, machining, tube bending, welding, and assembly.
Experience working in a fabrication or machine shop environment is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to travel as needed for product testing and field support.
Comfortable working aboard boats and participating in testing under varying marine conditions.
