Data Warehouse Business Analyst

Position Overview

An enterprise organization supporting large-scale social service and benefits programs is seeking a Data Warehouse Business Analyst to support a mission-critical eligibility and reporting data environment. This team plays a key role in ensuring that accurate, timely, and reliable data is available to support eligibility determinations, operational reporting, compliance, and program oversight.

The Business Analyst will partner closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to analyze data needs, translate requirements into actionable reporting solutions, and deliver SQL-based queries, reports, and dashboards. This role requires strong analytical skills, comfort working with complex datasets, and the ability to clearly communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Job Scope & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with program stakeholders and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and reporting requirements.
  
• Act as a liaison between business users and data/technical teams to ensure reporting solutions align with operational and regulatory needs.
  
• Assist stakeholders in defining reporting and ETL requirements, including guidance on data interpretation and usage.
  
• Develop and execute ad hoc SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate data from the data warehouse.
  
• Create, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards using SQL-based reporting tools to support decision-making and oversight.
  
• Perform data quality checks, investigate anomalies, and troubleshoot reporting issues to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  
• Support ongoing reporting enhancements, integrations, and analytics-related initiatives.
  
• Participate in process improvement efforts, including gap analysis and change management activities.
  
• Differentiate between defects and new requirements, working with stakeholders to prioritize and document outcomes.
  
• Design, develop, and execute test plans for reporting solutions, applications, or subsystems.
  
• Create or source test data and execute approved test scenarios to validate logic and outputs.
  
• Develop training materials and provide guidance or support to end users on reporting tools and processes.
  
• Participate in peer and cross-functional reviews to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security requirements, and governance guidelines.
  
• Identify and document security, data protection, and compliance requirements relevant to reporting solutions.
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL queries for reporting, analysis, and data validation.
  
• 5+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst supporting data, reporting, or analytics initiatives.
  
• 5+ years of experience working in Agile delivery environments, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
  
• Strong experience translating business needs into clear reporting and data requirements.
  
• Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets and explain findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  
• Experience performing data quality analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.
  
• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
