A growing, privately held plastics manufacturing group with multiple facilities across Michigan and the Midwest is seeking a Production Operations Manager to lead one of its flagship operations. This division is part of a larger organization employing over 2,000 team members across 15+ locations in North America , supporting leading global OEM and Tier-1 automotive and industrial customers.

This is a high-visibility leadership role for a results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The selected candidate will play a key role in driving plant performance, lean manufacturing initiatives, and frontline leadership development .

About the Facility

• Employs approximately 150–200 people and operates 24/5 across three shifts .
• Specializes in precision injection molding, assembly, and value-added processes such as trimming, welding, and finishing for interior and under-hood components .
• Currently investing in automation, robotics, and ERP upgrades to support new business wins and production expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily production, scheduling, and maintenance operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Partner with plant and corporate leadership to execute strategic initiatives and improve operational performance.
• Champion lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices to enhance throughput, reduce scrap, and improve uptime.
• Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and hourly associates to strengthen culture and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations while fostering a safety-first mindset .
• Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth program launches and sustained operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations or production management — plastics or automotive preferred.
• Proven success managing multi-shift operations and improving plant performance metrics.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems , lean manufacturing , and continuous improvement methodologies.
