Department: Chelsea Retirement Community | Chelsea, MI

What You’ll Do in This Role:

As a Staff Chaplain with Brio Living Services, you’ll play a vital role in nurturing the spiritual well-being of our residents, their families, and our dedicated team members. You’ll offer guidance during life’s most meaningful moments—celebrating joys, offering support in challenges, and helping individuals connect to their faith or spiritual practices. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, leading services, or bridging the gap when someone is far from their spiritual community, you’ll be part of a mission-driven team that truly cares. This is more than a job—it’s a calling. Come be the heart of hope and healing in our community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized spiritual care and emotional support to residents, families, and team members across the community.
  • Lead ecumenical worship services—including communion and baptisms—at least once a month in various settings.
  • Offer end-of-life support and participate in or officiate memorial services as needed.
  • Facilitate small group gatherings such as Bible studies, prayer circles, or devotional sessions.
  • Collaborate with other departments, local clergy, hospitals, and hospice teams to ensure holistic spiritual care.
  • Help coordinate visits and services for residents from diverse spiritual backgrounds and traditions.
  • Respect and uphold the rights, preferences, and dignity of every individual you serve.

What You’ll Need:

Education & Credentials:
Master of Divinity (or equivalent) from an accredited seminary and ordination in good standing with a recognized faith tradition preferred. Completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and professional chaplaincy credentialing strongly encouraged.

Preferred Experience:
1–3 years of experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, or related fields—especially within healthcare or aging services. Experience working with individuals with dementia and at end-of-life is highly valued.

Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to preside over sacraments (e.g., Communion and Baptism) within a recognized Christian tradition. Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with individuals who may have difficulty hearing or speaking.

Bonus Skills:
Talents in music, visual or performing arts, spiritual direction, pastoral counseling, or holistic practices are a plus!

Technology:
Comfort using Microsoft Office and general office equipment (projectors, copiers, AV tech, etc.) is expected.

The above is a summary of the position, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties this position will be required to perform. If selected for the position you will receive a full job description.
