Henry Ford Health is a leading, Detroit‑based integrated nonprofit healthcare organization that provides comprehensive care across more than 550 sites in Michigan. We are currently seeking a talented Real Estate Manager to join our Strategic Environment and Initiatives department.

As part of our Real Estate team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of real estate strategy for Henry Ford Health. You will directly influence the spaces where our patients are seen, and where our teams work every day. You will have meaningful impact on community access, operational efficiency, and the overall experience of those we serve. More specifically, the Real Estate Manager will coordinate system-wide real estate transactions – including site acquisition, leasing, and disposition – and ensures that all real estate activity supports the organization’s mission and long‑term growth. You will partner closely with corporate, administrative, retail, and patient‑care departments to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective space solutions.

This position reports to the Director of Real Estate and works in collaboration with Sha Realty Corporation (the in-house licensed brokerage arm) to manage property and lease administration activities.

We welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences who can bring fresh insights and innovative thinking to our team.

Real Estate Transactions & Strategy

  • Lead real estate transactions from initial strategy through closing, including market analysis, site selection, negotiations, and documentation.
  • Develop and implement transaction strategies that align with Henry Ford Health’s systemwide goals.
  • Conduct comparative financial and market analyses to support informed decision‑making.
  • Serve as leader for Sha Realty Corporation, ensuring compliance with state requirements and upholding professional standards.

Portfolio Management

  • Oversee portfolio performance, including budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Monitor lease obligations and ensure timely renewals, terminations, and optimization of space utilization.

Landlord & Partner Engagement

  • Support property management and operations teams through proactive landlord engagement and issue resolution.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external brokerage, development, property management, consulting, and other real estate partners.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Facilities, Design, Construction, and Infrastructure teams to ensure spaces meet Henry Ford Health’s quality, brand, and experience standards.
  • Work with senior leadership to identify and deliver cost‑effective real estate solutions that support organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, or related field
  • Extensive experience in medical real estate transactions, portfolio management, and brokerage leadership (minimum of 5 – 7 years)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal healthcare regulatory requirements, including Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as they relate to medical real estate transactions and fair market value compliance

What We’re Looking For

  • A collaborative, self‑directed professional who thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to customer service and a positive experience for internal clients.
  • Openness to learning, innovation, and new approaches to real estate operations.
  • Respect for diverse perspectives and the ability to foster an inclusive, supportive work environment.

Schedule Expectations

  • Standard office environment with minimal exposure to noise or temperature changes.
  • Hybrid schedule (2 – 3 days in downtown Detroit office with team, 2 – 3 days at home)
  • Occasional travel to system locations may be required.

  • Organization: Corporate Services
  • Department: Real Estate Services
  • Shift: Day Job
  • Union Code: Not Applicable
