Role Summary
The Scheduler II will be engaged in planning, directing, managing, and coordinating study scheduling, contractor resources, animal availability, ordering of animals and supplies, and other related scheduling/procurement tasks. The Scheduler II will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate schedule is created for laboratory resources for study conduct.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate scheduling activities related to the development, initiation, and conduct of laboratory studies based on protocol and/or SOP requirements.
- Maintain and update study schedules and calendars.
- Responsible for coordinating/scheduling animal deliveries.
- Communicate with the appropriate personnel regarding animal availability, room availability, and other activities related to scheduling and resource allocation throughout the laboratory.
- Optimizing resource management to maximize room utilization.
- Study protocol review.
- Communication with supporting departments on capabilities.
- Responsible for forecasting lab capabilities.
- Assist in training Scheduler I’s.
- Recognizes, initiates, and leads improvement projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- HS/GED required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or related discipline preferred.
- 3-4 years of related experience in a scientific environment and 1 year of scheduling experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office core applications.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Strong understanding of operational procedures in a preclinical environment.
- Strong understanding of study design and protocols.
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations and data collection.
- Knowledge of GLPs and other federal regulations relating to the care of laboratory animals is preferred.
- Ability to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints.

Special Requirements
- The person filling this position will spend approximately 90% in an office setting and 10% in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals.
- Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
- Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, and extended shifts with short notice.
