Cable Manufacturing Technician

Auburn Hills, MI

(Contract-to-Hire with GLOBAL’s Client)

Position Summary

The Cable Manufacturing Technician is responsible for building and repairing functional cables and wire harness assemblies to meet production needs. This role also involves modifying existing cables, ensuring high quality and accuracy throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut cables to length and prepare ends for assembly.
• Install crimping pins/sockets and solder as required.
• Install hoods/connectors and apply proper tags and labels.
• Follow all quality requirements including inspection, labeling, testing, and packaging.
• Work with manual and automatic tooling to build cables.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous experience building cables with manual and automatic tooling.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and comprehend electrical drawings; soldering experience; proficiency with crimping/pinning tools.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, respectful communication with coworkers and management, and ability to work under time-sensitive conditions.
• Software: Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office and Oracle.
• Travel & Scheduling: Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required to meet production demands.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience building cables or wiring harnesses for automation equipment; knowledge of cable ratings (e.g., “UL” certifications).
• Additional Responsibilities: Occasional assignments at remote locations; adherence to MIOSHA regulations (Fork Truck, Lockout, Hazardous Material); required personal protective equipment.
• Physical & Mental Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to work in a standing position for 8-10 hours per day; ability to complete tasks within speed/productivity quotas.
