Chief Corporate Compliance Officer
Job Description
Job Description
This position serves as OCHN's principal advisor on compliance, ethics, and regulatory governance, providing strategic counsel to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
About the Role
Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) is seeking a strategic and principled Chief Corporate Compliance Officer (CCCO) to lead and strengthen the organization’s enterprise-wide compliance and ethics program. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CCCO provides independent leadership and oversight to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and organizational policies within a highly regulated public behavioral health environment.
The CCCO works closely with the Board of Directors, executive leadership, and employees to promote a culture of compliance, transparency, and accountability. This role serves as a key advisor to the Board and senior leadership, providing regular reporting, guidance, and risk assessment related to compliance, regulatory matters, and organizational ethics.
OCHN seeks candidates with a strong legal, regulatory, or healthcare compliance background. A Juris Doctor (JD) is strongly preferred given the executive nature of this role and its responsibility for advising the CEO, the Executive Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors on complex compliance, governance, and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the organization’s chief compliance and HIPAA privacy officer.
- Design, implement, and oversee OCHN’s Corporate Compliance Program.
- Identify compliance risks and develop corrective action and mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate investigations, audits, FOIA responses, and regulatory inquiries.
- Partner with Quality, Legal, and Executive Leadership to ensure regulatory alignment.
- Report regularly to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board on compliance activities.
- Promote a culture of ethics, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, public administration, public health, or related field required.
- Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred. Candidates with significant experience advising executive leadership on healthcare compliance, regulatory interpretation, investigations, governance matters, and Board engagement are encouraged to apply. Candidates who do not possess a JD should demonstrate substantial executive-level healthcare compliance and regulatory leadership experience demonstrating comparable expertise.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, legal practice, or a closely related field, including experience advising executive leadership on complex regulatory matters.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, public-sector compliance, and behavioral health regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive matters.
- Excellent communication skills and experience presenting to senior leaders and boards.
