This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies, overseeing the marketing budget, deploying our advertising strategy, managing the marketing team, and collaborating with stakeholders across the tourism industry. LOCATION & SCHEDULE: Full time This position currently involves a hybrid working model with 2 days remote , and 3 days in-office in Detroit, MI. WHAT WE REQUIRE: ~ Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. ~6-8 years of progressive marketing experience, including leadership roles in tourism, hospitality, or a related industry. ~ Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques, including SEO, SEM, Google Analytics, and social media platforms. ~ Experience in developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across various channels. ~ Proven ability to manage budgets and track ROI. ~ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. ~ Strong leadership and team management skills. ~ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ~ Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license. PREFERRED: ~8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including leadership roles in tourism, hospitality, or a related industry. HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE: Strategic Planning Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies that align with Visit Detroit's mission and goals. Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the tourism industry. Utilize data analytics and market research to inform marketing strategies and optimize campaign performance. Campaign Management Oversee the planning and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital marketing, social media, content marketing, and advertising. Develop and implement storytelling initiatives that capture the essence of Detroit and resonate with target audiences. Manage relationships with advertising agency partners. Manage the marketing budget and ensure that all marketing activities are cost-effective and deliver a high return on investment. Team Leadership ~ Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate with stakeholders across the tourism industry, including hotels, attractions, restaurants, and other partners, to develop and implement joint marketing initiatives. Oversee the development and distribution of marketing materials, including brochures, website content, social media posts, and press releases. Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and optimize campaigns. Represent Visit Detroit at industry events, conferences, and meetings. Stay up-to-date on the latest marketing trends and technologies. OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS: ~ Public Relations and Communications: Collaborate with Communications team to assist the team with handling communication with international media outlets to enhance Detroit's brand and reputation. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES: Marketing Expertise: A strong foundation in marketing principles, strategies, and best practices, with a focus on international marketing and cultural considerations Digital Marketing Proficiency: Expertise in digital marketing techniques, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, email marketing, and online advertising. This includes a deep understanding of how to leverage digital channels to reach target audiences, create engaging content, and track campaign performance. Cross-Cultural Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. This involves sensitivity to cultural nuances, adaptability in communication styles, and the ability to build rapport with people from different cultures. Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and analyzing multiple assignments simultaneously. Ability to think and manage creatively in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, colleagues, and external stakeholders. Maintains a positive and professional work attitude, appearance, and behavior even in the most demanding situation. Ability to work effectively in both remote and in-person work environment; proficient using video conferencing software and other remote work tools. Excellent communication skills including the ability to clearly express thoughts, ideas, and concepts, verbally and in writing, in the English language. Proficient in using personal computer software and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Available weekends and outside of normal work hours for assignments and travel, as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Office work involves extended periods of sitting or working at a desk, utilizing repetitive typing motions on a computer or laptop, and reading text on a video display monitor. Ability to perform extensive standing and/or walking for work-related assignments and events. Ability to lift push, and or carry up to 25lbs. occasionally.
