Job Purpose and Focus
To develop positive relationships with co-workers, other employees, governmental agencies, vendors and the general public to furnish information, carry out transactions, problem solve, report, and carry out performance responsibilities. Completes basic bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred
· Two or more years experience in accounting and bookkeeping, preferably with a K-12 school district
· Ability to type with speed and accuracy
· Ability to operate standard office machines, computers and communication equipment
· Working knowledge of Windows-based software especially spread sheets, e.g., MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
· Ability to follow general office procedures, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and demonstrate effective organizational skills
· Ability to communicate, follow instructions, problem solve, and work well with others.
· Ability to exercise tact and discretion in relations with district personnel and the general public
· Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
· Ability to meet deadlines
· Willingness to keep abreast of changing technologies and to assume new responsibilities required by the introduction of new services and equipment
· Ability to maintain regular attendance
· Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures
Essential Functions and Representative Duties
· Prepare local, state and federal reports.
· Record all receipts and journal entries for the school district.
· Perform all banking transactions
· Reconcile all bank accounts of the district with the exception of school activity accounts
· Prepare invoices as appropriate and in a timely manner
· Maintain all necessary files for invoices, records, reports, and schedules disposal of outdated information in accordance with record retention guidelines
· Prepare required monthly financial statements subject to approval of the Assistant Superintendent, and distribute these to the Board of Education
· Record budget transfers and adjustments
· Maintain and monitor accounts receivable to insure funds are collected on a timely basis
· Prepare and distribute financial reports to building and department administrators and other appropriate staff
· Maintain Fixed Asset Accounting System
· Prepare financial reports and analysis as required
· Assist in the preparation for the annual audit
· Assist with budget preparation
· Performs duties as requested by the Assistant Superintendent.
Terms of Employment
Salary and fringe benefits in accordance with the current CMOPP Collective Bargaining Agreement with The Board of Education. This is a level I position ($15.48/hr. - $27.78/hr.) for 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year.
Work Environment
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. There is limited exposure to physical risk. Requires some repetitive motions and sedentary work.
Evaluation/Performance Measurements
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel. Criteria for performance include but are not limited to:

· Data utilization
· Human interactions
· Participation in specific training or workshop opportunities
· Demonstration of interpersonal, time, conflict, and stress management skills
· Production and efficiency related to job duties
