Lawn Maintenance Crew Lead

As a Lawn Maintenance Crew Lead, you will play a key role in supervising and working alongside a crew to ensure that all assigned properties are maintained to company standards. This position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on outdoor work with leadership responsibilities, making a direct impact on the appearance and health of client landscapes. Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate crew members during daily lawn care and landscaping tasks.
- Assign work based on skill level, equipment availability, and daily priorities.
- Ensure all safety protocols and proper equipment usage are followed by the crew.
- Enforce company and OSHA safety standards, including PPE, equipment handling, and vehicle safety.
- Perform and oversee mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and debris cleanup on client properties.
- Conduct seasonal tasks such as aeration, dethatching, leaf removal, mulching, and pruning.
- Identify and report lawn health issues, such as weeds, pests, or irrigation problems.
- Support snow season activities as assigned.
- Operate commercial-grade equipment safely and efficiently.
- Train team members on equipment use and assist with basic maintenance.
- Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment, trailers, vehicles, and tools.
- Inspect job sites before and after work to ensure high-quality standards are met.
- Communicate with managers or clients regarding special instructions or issues.
- Address and resolve on-site challenges quickly and professionally.
- Track crew hours, materials used, and job completion details.
- Maintain accurate records and report progress to supervisors daily.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in lawn care, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
- Leadership experience or strong ability to guide a small crew.
- Knowledge of lawn care best practices, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a chauffeur license.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to operate loud machinery and work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, cold, and rain.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Willingness to work early mornings, overtime, weekends, and adapt to seasonal variations.
