Med/Surg RN Job Details – Kalamazoo, MI

• Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007 (Michigan nursing jobs)
• Unit: 20-6250 Med Surg - NVU (Neurological/Spinal Focus)
• Employment Type: Travel RN (Locum Tenens)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/8/2025 – End: 12/8/2025)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts/week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1840 - $1890
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4 or 1:5
• Technology: EPIC (EMR), Pyxis (medication management)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience (2 years preferred)
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• NIHSS certification or willingness to obtain before start date
• Proof of flu vaccination (medical exemptions accepted)
• Ability to float to other Med/Surg units, ICU, and ED waiting rooms
• Professional references required

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with neurological disorders, spinal surgeries, and diverse medical conditions
• Monitor and assess patients in step-down/telemetry and bariatric beds
• Admit and care for seizure patients (age 5+), including neuro monitoring
• Document patient care using EPIC and manage medications via Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other units as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
• Complete orientation and annual modules (self-reported, 8 hours)
