Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will engage in research, development, design, and testing of electrical components, equipment, and systems specifically for industrial furnaces. The role requires creating schematics and designing control cabinets using AutoCAD Electrical, alongside programming equipment using PLCs.

The position offers access to existing code design templates to minimize the need for programming from scratch.

The engineer will work on various projects such as enhancing operator interface designs or upgrading control systems.

Hours

• Monday to Friday, with standard hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and does not require overtime.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, design, and test electrical components and systems for industrial furnaces.
• Create schematics and design control cabinets using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Program equipment using PLCs, primarily Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
• Enhance operator interface designs and upgrade control systems.
• Convert old 2D designs to 3D designs.
• Interact professionally with customers and communicate effectively.
• Occasionally visit customer sites for complex projects once or twice a year.
• Collaborate with teams on custom equipment projects.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of work experience in electrical engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for drawing schematics and control panel design.
• Experience with PLC programming, specifically Allen-Bradley.
• Background in working with custom industrial equipment and automation.

"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the heat treatment industry.
• Experience collaborating with manufacturing and maintenance personnel.

Work Environment

The work environment is within an established company with low staff attrition.

The Electrical Engineer will be part of a team that includes one Senior Electrical Engineer and five Mechanical Engineers. The engineer will collaborate with the applications and operations teams and occasionally interact with customers. The company is working towards updating their antiquated systems and facilities.

The team is small, close-knit, and enjoys team lunches and events.

The position involves desk work for 80% of the time in a professional setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.
