We are currently searching for a Heavy Construction Pipe Layerto join our team.

TheHeavy Construction Pipe Layerwill primarily perform excavation and pipe installation tasks essential for the completion of underground utility systems including sanitary and storm sewers as well as watermain construction.

This position is a full-time, seasonal position typically working Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday work and overtime available.Job sites are primarily located in the Northern Michigan area and overnight travel is not normally required.

Essential Duties

• Work as part of the team to complete projects with a priority on safety then quality then productivity
• Operate small power tools or hand tools such as saws, hand compactors and impact wrenches
• Work with and setup pipe lasers and understand slope and grade
• Work in conjunction with equipment operators to create safe excavation trenches and avoid damage to existing utilities
• Understand and follow OSHA trench safety rules
• Shovel, grade, set and bed various types of pipe including concrete, PVC, HDPE, ductile iron and other
• Understand basic lifting and rigging methods

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience with pipe installation in the heavy construction field is preferred
• Display a respectful and positive attitude
• Able to work in a variety of outside weather conditions
• Able to perform physically demanding work such as shoveling, lifting, raking etc.
• Able to perform and understand basic math required for construction
• Must be able to work as part of a team and be willing to learn
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must have strong work ethic and be dependable and consistent
