Shop Manager & Diesel Mechanic - Hiring Now
SMF, Inc. is growing rapidly and seeking a Shop Manager and Diesel Mechanic to join our team. We’re looking for reliable, skilled individuals to help keep our fleet safe, compliant, and road ready.
Shop Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop operations and workflow
- Schedule and assign repairs and preventative maintenance
- Ensure tractors and trailers meet PM and DOT compliance
- Manage parts inventory and ordering
- Maintain accurate work orders and service records
- Supervise mechanics and mechanic assistants
- Communicate fleet repair status with management
- Maintain shop safety and organization
- Some weekend availability required
Shop Manager Requirements
- Experience managing a diesel or truck repair shop
- Strong knowledge of tractor/trailer maintenance
- DOT and PM compliance knowledge
- Semi-truck repair experience
- Volvo tractor experience a plus
- Diagnostic computer and basic computer skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities
- Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines
- Perform preventative maintenance on Volvo tractors and van trailers
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues
- Ensure fleet safety and road readiness
- Maintain accurate service records
- Some weekend availability required
Diesel Mechanic Requirements
- Tractor/trailer repair experience
- Knowledge of PM and DOT regulations
- Experience working on semi-trucks
- Volvo experience a plus
- Diagnostic computer experience a plus
- Certifications a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
