General Manager

We are looking for an experienced Managing Director/General manager to lead the Echelon Kitchen and Bar.The successful candidate will control and oversee all business operations, people and strategies at our upcoming elevated “live fire” food, beverage, and service restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

You will be the highest ranking Manager in the business and will be responsible for the overall successful operation of the business.

The ideal candidate will be a strategist and a leader able to steer the business to the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission and long term goals. Very strong leadership and decision-making skills are required of this M.D. The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not divert from its strategic guidelines. At least a level-1 Sommeleier certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s business strategies and business plan in order to attain the goals of the stakeholders
• Make decisions based up accurate information that balances the needs of the Guest, the Staff, and the Stakeholders.
• Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
• Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times. Protect the Stakeholders.
• Communicate and maintain trust relationships with Stakeholders, business partners and authorities
• Oversee the business’s financial performance using current and relevant business technology. Report same to Stakeholders via monthly narrative
• Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of the team providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
• Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the business in ways that strengthen its profile
• Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth

Skills

• 10 years proven experience as Managing Director, General Manager or other senior-level managerial position
• Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
• Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the business
• Strong understanding of finance and measures of performance
• Familiarity with hospitality industry laws and management best practices
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
• BS/BA in business administration or relevant field; MS/MA will be preferred
• Serious beverage (+wine) program development, training, and service experience and knowledge.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
