Director of Social Services
- Reviews daily work assignments to ensure they meet regulatory compliance and provide consistent staffing whenever possible.
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the social service programs of the facility
- Interviews residents or family members as necessary to obtain social history
- Provides information to resident/families as to Medicare/Medicaid and other financial assistance programs available to the resident
- Refers resident/families to appropriate social service agencies when the facility does not provide the services or needs of the resident
- Assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished; collaborates with staff and other departments to develop workflow efficiencies and streamline business practices to reduce costs and eliminate waste
- Develops and maintains a community and social services referral file of agencies and organizations that provide assistance to residents
- Interprets the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.
- Keeps abreast of current federal and state regulations as well as professional standards and makes recommendations in changes in facility policies and procedures to the Administrator
- All other duties as assigned
- Proven strong management skills, including delegating responsibility to subordinates, performance management, conflict management, and leading through others.
- Must have good financial and management skills.
- Ability to plan and adapt policies and procedures relating to social services
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field including sociology, gerontology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, etc. required
- Master of Social work (MSW) or related field preferred
- Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Social Services Professional.
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
