Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

This role is responsible for planning, engineering, and designing electric and gas distribution systems. The position involves determining the need, size, location, and timing of power delivery infrastructure development while balancing economic, environmental, social, regulatory constraints, and reliability needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop work packages for overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable/conduit.

• Conduct field engineering to identify project requirements and conflicting utilities.

• Perform engineering and design calculations.

• Review projects post-construction.

• Solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies.

• Communicate with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, processes, and practices related to the area.

Essential Skills

• Basic knowledge and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts in a narrow technical domain.

• Experience in distribution design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Typically requires a BS degree or equivalent experience.

• Less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Work Environment

The role involves working under supervision on less complex projects and assignments. The work environment encourages collaboration with peers and allows for the development of products, solutions, and processes using basic principles and theories.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Big Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
