Customer Service Specialist - Medical Equipment
The Customer Service Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients and referral partners. This role requires hands‑on learning of medical equipment, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage administrative tasks with accuracy and professionalism.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (1‑hour lunch)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality customer service via inbound calls, outbound calls, and email
- Consult with patients one‑on‑one to ensure understanding and successful equipment setup
- Obtain, analyze, and verify referral information
- Create orders and schedule equipment delivery as prescribed by the patient’s provider
- Process orders and route calls to appropriate internal teams
- Follow up on inquiries and ensure timely resolution
- Learn and navigate internal systems and medical equipment
- Meet call, email, and service goals
Required Skills & Experience (Must‑Haves)
- 1–3 years customer service or administrative experience
- Must be in office, medical, or insurance settings
- Experience in a medical or clinical environment
- Examples: Medical Assistant, CNA, Insurance Verification, or similar
- Ability to learn and understand technical/medical equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working directly with customers
- High levels of empathy, patience, and professionalism
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to assist in lifting a patient into a seated position
Training & Work Environment
- Hands‑on training with management (approx. 1 month before fully independent)
- Business casual environment — closed‑toe shoes required; scrubs allowed
- Team includes 3 drivers, warehouse staff, CSR team, clintechs, and an RT
- Fun, friendly, tight‑knit office culture
On‑Call Rotation (After Direct Hire)
- One weekend day: 9am–9pm
- One weeknight per month: 5pm–9pm
- Remote work allowed during on‑call shifts
- All logged hours paid at hourly rate + time‑and‑a‑half overtime
- Guaranteed stipends even if no calls occur:
- Weeknight: $25
- Weekend: $60
- Holiday: $100
On‑call schedules are released quarterly, and employees may swap or pick up additional shifts.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southfield, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
