Position Summary
We are seeking a Controls/Automation Engineer to join our team and support the design, development, and implementation of control systems for industrial and commercial projects. This role involves working closely with clients, project teams, and contractors to design, program, and commission automation solutions that improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, specify, and implement control systems for HVAC, process, and utility systems in industrial and commercial facilities.
- Develop control system architecture, panel designs, wiring diagrams, and network layouts.
- Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems from major platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Create control narratives, I/O lists, and system documentation.
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning at client sites.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Support clients with upgrades, optimization, and troubleshooting of existing control systems.
- Provide technical support during construction, startup, and maintenance phases.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in controls or automation engineering, preferably within a consulting or project-based environment.
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, BACnet, etc.).
- Experience with instrumentation and control system design.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in industrial/commercial environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, or similar design tools.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and integration with MEP systems.
- Familiarity with data acquisition and analytics.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional site visits depending on project needs.
- Standard working hours.
