Clinical Director (Behavioral Health - Transitional Housing Program) - Detroit, MI

Job Type: Full-Time (On-site)

Organization Overview:

This organization operates a Bridge Housing Campus designed to address complex barriers to housing for adults experiencing homelessness. The program provides trauma-informed, intensive wrap-around services including medical care, mental health support, substance use recovery, and housing advocacy.

The campus includes 40 studio apartments and functions as a structured transitional program focused on long-term stability, not emergency shelter or permanent housing.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Director provides leadership and operational oversight for all clinical and behavioral health services. This role ensures care delivery aligns with trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based practices while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence.

The position oversees an interdisciplinary team and ensures integration across all service domains.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Care Coordination

• Develop and refine clinical programs, policies, and care models

• Oversee intake, assessments, and individualized care planning

• Lead interdisciplinary case review meetings

• Provide clinical supervision and ensure documentation compliance

• Coordinate care with external partners (hospitals, clinics, recovery programs)

• Maintain a small clinical caseload as needed

Staff Development & Supervision

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff

• Support licensure supervision and professional development

• Assist with recruitment and team building

Organizational Leadership

• Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and dignity

• Collaborate with leadership and operational teams

• Support integration across programs and services

• Advocate for social justice and systemic change

External Relations

• Build partnerships with community organizations and healthcare systems

• Represent the program in community meetings and forums

• Support grant writing and funding initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field

• Active Michigan licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LLP, or equivalent)

• Minimum 5 years of clinical leadership experience

• Experience in behavioral health, trauma-informed care, or recovery services

Preferred:

• Experience in housing, residential, or transitional programs

• Grant writing experience

• Familiarity with EHR systems

• Bilingual skills preferred
