Team Leader, Marketing Technology
As Team Leader of Engineering on the Marketing Technology team, you'll lead a talented group of Senior Marketing Automation Specialists building enterprise-scale, data-driven marketing experiences in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. You'll be a servant leader and strategic technical thought partner—combining deep hands-on marketing automation expertise with people leadership to deliver innovative, personalized omnichannel journeys that drive engagement and measurable business outcomes.

Your leadership will be instrumental in setting technical strategy for what's possible in SFMC, defining how data drives personalization, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality solutions. About the role
- Lead and mentor an Agile team of Senior Marketing Automation Specialists focused on multichannel journey orchestration, automation development, and data-driven marketing in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Define and own technical strategy for SFMC channel capabilities, data and audience activation, integration patterns and omnichannel orchestration
- Lead large scale ESP migration initiatives and technical integrations between SFMC and source systems, ensuring accuracy, data quality and synchronicity
- Establish trust and credibility with tenured team members through hands-on coaching, technical guidance and strategic leadership
- Leverage expertise in SQL, data modeling, CDP tools and SFMC to guide complex technical decisions and set vision for what's possible
- Drive adoption of scalable automation frameworks, reusable journey components, and data models that support enterprise-wide campaigns
- Provide technical leadership on email, SMS, Push Notifications, and emerging mobile channels (RCS, In-App, WhatsApp, Apple Business)
- Conduct code reviews, journey QA, query optimization and technical documentation to maintain engineering excellence
- Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, CRM and Application Development teams to architect seamless integrations and data flows
- Participate in team planning sessions, ensure accountability for deliverables and timelines, and advocate for team members and projects
- Balance hands-on technical assistance with empowering team members to grow and take ownership
- Coordinate incident response and root-cause analysis for production sends; implement long-term mitigations
- Foster a culture of quality, craftsmanship, continuous learning, innovation and AI-driven optimization
About you
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar marketing automation platforms
- 3+ years of people leadership experience leading technical teams
- Expert-level proficiency writing SQL for data querying, analysis, segmentation and audience building
- Deep understanding of email marketing principles, SMS best practices, mobile messaging and omnichannel journey orchestration
- Proven expertise in SFMC data models, audience management, campaign measurement and integration architecture
- Strong understanding of marketing technology ecosystems, CDP tools, CRM systems and data architecture
- Expertise leading large scale ESP migration projects and technical integrations with source systems
- Demonstrated ability to set technical strategy and guide teams through complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Track record of driving quality, efficiency and technical excellence
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills for team members and projects
- Ability to motivate experienced team members and drive accountability
- Ability to quickly context-switch and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of marketing automation experience with exposure to complex enterprise systems and high-volume campaigns
- 5+ years of people leadership experience with a track record of developing and retaining technical talent
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification or higher
- Experience with Customer Data Platforms (Twilio Segment strongly preferred)
- Deep expertise in mobile messaging strategy including SMS, RCS, Push, In-App messaging, WhatsApp and Apple Business Chat
- Background leading teams responsible for client-facing applications and experiences
- Expertise in email security, authentication and reputation management
- Experience architecting integrations between SFMC, Salesforce CRM systems and external data sources
- Track record of improving team performance and velocity
- History of successfully coaching and developing engineering talent
- Passion for innovation and emerging technologies including AI, advanced personalization and predictive optimization
- Experience leveraging company-approved AI tools to drive efficiency and optimization
- Background in Financial Services or large, regulated organizations navigating complex enterprise systems
