Job Title: Brake Press Operator

Shift: 1st Shift (Monday-Friday)

Pay: Up to $25/hr. based on experience

Location: Allegan, MI

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator to support production in a custom metal fabrication environment. This role is responsible for setting up, tooling, and operating brake press equipment to form sheet metal parts accurately and efficiently to customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC hydraulic brake press equipment to bend and form sheet metal parts according to blueprints, work orders, and production requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, prints, work orders, and fabrication drawings to determine bend sequence, dimensions, tolerances, and finished part requirements.
• Select and install proper tooling, dies, punches, and machine setup components based on part design, material type, thickness, and production requirements.
• Perform machine setups, adjustments, and first-piece checks to ensure parts are formed accurately and meet customer and company quality standards.
• Run production independently while monitoring bend angles, dimensions, material consistency, and overall part quality throughout the process.
• Use measuring and inspection tools such as tape measures, calipers, angle gauges, and related inspection equipment to verify parts meet print specifications and tight tolerances.
• Work with a variety of fabricated sheet metal parts and components used in custom manufacturing and metal fabrication projects.
• Identify and troubleshoot setup issues, tooling concerns, and part quality problems, making adjustments as needed to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while following shop procedures, safety standards, and production expectations.
• Collaborate with shop personnel, fabrication team members, and leadership to ensure jobs are completed on time and to specification.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on brake press experience in a fabrication, sheet metal, or custom manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and work orders and translate them into accurate machine setups and formed parts.
• Experience with independent setups, tooling selection, machine adjustments, and production operation.
• Strong understanding of tight tolerances, bend accuracy, and quality expectations in a fabrication environment.
• Familiarity with sheet metal forming, measuring tools, and fabrication processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment.
