Schneiderman and Sherman P.C., a leading default law firm representing servicers and secured creditors across multiple jurisdictions, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant (preferably Plaintiff representation) to support our fast-paced legal operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and a passion for delivering exceptional client service. The position requires 3-5 years of legal assistant experience, proficiency in e-filing, and expertise in client and vendor communication. A daily in-office presence is required to ensure seamless collaboration and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Support and Document Management: Assist attorneys by preparing, reviewing, and filing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
E-Filing Expertise: Manage electronic filing of legal documents through state and federal court systems, ensuring timely and error-free submissions in accordance with court requirements.
Client Communication: Act as a key point of contact for clients, responding promptly to inquiries via email, phone, and voicemail. Provide clear, accurate updates on case status and escalate complex matters as needed to ensure client satisfaction.
Vendor Coordination and Oversight: Liaise with vendors, such as process servers, to coordinate services, monitor performance, and identify trends to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Case Progression: Maintain and update case files, track deadlines, and ensure timely progression of cases through the legal process, including foreclosure and related proceedings.
Administrative Support: Perform data entry, maintain case management systems, and ensure all documentation adheres to internal and regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
o 3-5 years of legal assistant experience in a law firm or legal department, preferably in default, foreclosure, or real estate law plaintiff representation.
o Demonstrated experience with e-filing in state and/or federal court systems.
Education:
o Technical Proficiency:
o Intermediate computer skills with error-free data entry.
o Familiarity with legal case management software is a plus.
Communication:
o Professional email and telephone etiquette with a client-focused approach.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and legal teams.
Skills:
o Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
o Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage a high-volume caseload.
o Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in default or foreclosure law.
Knowledge of Michigan court procedures and filing requirements.
Familiarity with vendor management and performance evaluation.
